Meet Diesel...

*** This information was provided by his current owner/seller.  Diesel will be coming to Tallman Training Centre for pre-sale further education & tuning the first week in March.  You can keep up to date on his training progress on this page.  He will be offered for sale on May 3rd at Western Horse Sales Unlimited at Saskatoon Livestock Sales west of Saskatoon Saskatchewan. ***

Diesel is a 14 yr old Buckskin/Dun Grade QH cross gelding.  He stands approx 15.1 HH, very sturdy built (previous farrier figured he would be a good size for roping bulls off of). Easy to catch and work with on the ground. Moves away from pressure and stands tied nicely.  He was roped off of in a Cain Quam clinic (but not sure how long ago). Has been used to round up cattle.  He is good with the farrier and up to date on shots & deworming.  He seems to understand what is expected of him in the round pen.  He was sacked out some and he was pretty quiet about it.

***Update***  Diesel spent one day in ground work before I started riding him, he went very well.  We had some issues when we started riding out, but they seem to be resolved now, and things are going very well.  He side passes, turns on his haunches and forehand, takes both leads, and man can he turn!  I haven't opened him up yet, so not sure about speed, but he can turn with the best barrel horses I am sure.  He is pretty chunky and not really built for speed though.  The other day I ponied a mare off him who repeatedly pulled back, pulling the saddle up off his back and he hardly took any notice at all, he can definitely pull, and he knows how to track a steer.  He goes well in a snaffle but I have moved him into a shank bit and am neck reining him.  He stops great and can back with the best of them.  He goes bareback as well, and has a great little jog.  He is up to date on dental, deworming and farrier, and will have his shots well before sale day.

Yesterday I had a young girl with only a little "camp"  experience ride Diesel.  She had a bit of a hard time keeping him going in the right direction (over steering a bit, and he is not neck reining quite well enough for a green hand), but otherwise the ride went well.  I think a more experienced youth would ride him without much trouble at all.
